One of the biggest obstacles I faced was just getting money into the system to purchase bitcoin. Being in Canada seemed to make it even more of a challenge. I am more interested some of the alt coins at this point, but to begin you have to move traditional currency into the accounts, buy some btc and from there you can maneuver to other coins at a lower price point.
On January 25, 2014 I deposited $200. CAD into CaVirtex to dip my toe into the crypto-water. The following chart shows my exact transactions for a total investment of $196.4224, the difference being transaction fees.
January 27th I owned a total of .16 Bitcoin! It did feel good to buy that first .08, but even better when a little later in the day I was able to purchase another .08 at the lower rate of $836.03.
I felt I should leave the rest of the initial deposit there for a while. Watch the markets, read the blogs and follow the news sources. I wanted to learn a bit more. In early February the price started to drop and I thought that would be a good time to lower my average price, the rate was around 765.00. I put in an order for another .08 and got it at 764.25. I now own a total of .24 bitcoin. So what does that mean, and now what? I learned of another platform, one that is close to home even. I liked the idea of having a physical location that I could do business. I wanted to put a face to my investment. I began researching Vault of Satoshi as my next venture for a deposit.
